Maine town scores top marks for its water quality

A new town is taking the title for "Maine's Best Water."

Dozens of community water supplies around the state competed in Maine's Best Tasting Water Competition at the Samoset Resort in Rockport.

A panel of judges determined the best tasting water and ultimately determined two winners: one for disinfected and non-disinfected water. Boothbay Harbor took the prize for the disinfected water district category, but the winner of the tastiest non-disinfected water in the state of Maine went to Kingfield Water District. “It’s something special for me to be selected by my peers as having the best tasting water in the state of Maine. We had this happen to us in 2021 as well it was a fantastic time,” said Alan Stewart, the superintendent of the Kingfield Water District. These winners will be awarded the honor of going to the national taste test competition in Washington D.C. in February. Watch the video and see more photos from the event on WGME 13.
